How Junk Removal Prices Are Calculated: What You Need to Know

When it comes to junk removal, one of the most common questions customers have is, “How much will it cost?” The truth is, junk removal pricing isn’t one-size-fits-all — it depends on several key factors that determine how much time, labor, and disposal cost go into each job.

At 3 Peaks Junk & Haul, we believe in being upfront and transparent with our pricing so you know exactly what you’re paying for — and why.

1. Volume: How Much Space Your Junk Takes Up

The biggest factor in junk removal pricing is volume, or how much space your items fill in our truck.

Think of it like this — a few small boxes might take up only ⅛ of a truckload, while a full garage cleanout could fill the entire 17-cubic-yard truck. The more space your junk takes up, the more it costs to haul and dispose of.

At 3 Peaks, our pricing typically ranges from minimum loads (starting around $75–$125) to full truckloads (up to $685) depending on the amount of debris.

2. Type of Material

Not all junk is created equal. Some materials are heavier, harder to load, or more expensive to dispose of than others.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • General household junk: Furniture, clothes, boxes — lower disposal costs.

  • Construction debris: Concrete, drywall, wood, roofing — heavier and more labor-intensive.

  • Specialty items: Hot tubs, sheds, pianos, or appliances often require extra equipment or handling fees.

Heavy loads like concrete or dirt are often priced by weight or bedload, rather than volume.

3. Labor & Time on Site

If your items are easily accessible at the curb or in the driveway, labor costs stay low. But if our team has to navigate stairs, tight spaces, or perform light demolition (like tearing down a shed or deck), the added time and effort are factored into the price.

Our standard pricing includes a set amount of loading time — if your job requires extra time or manpower, it may increase slightly to account for labor.

4. Disposal Fees & Recycling

Every truckload of junk has to go somewhere. Local landfill and recycling centers charge fees based on weight and material type.

3 Peaks reduces these costs by sorting and recycling as much as possible — keeping reusable items out of the landfill and saving you money in the process.

5. Travel Distance & Accessibility

While most of our Northern Colorado service area (Greeley, Windsor, Loveland, Fort Collins, Johnstown, and beyond) falls within our base pricing, remote locations or areas that require long hauls, tolls, or special access can influence cost slightly.

6. Additional Factors

A few other things that can affect pricing include:

  • Urgency: Same-day or after-hours requests.

  • Weight limits: Especially for heavy materials like concrete or shingles.

  • Disposal restrictions: Hazardous materials or e-waste may need special processing.
